Media Release: Joint media release by Gospel Gold and the Kruger National Park

Back to Nature, Back to God - Gospel Gold visits the Kruger Date: 2005-02-08

The Kruger National Park will play host to the hugely popular SABC 1 gospel music programme, Gospel Gold for the next four programmes. Gospel Gold is SABC 1s flagship Gospel Music programme that has been enjoyed by millions of television viewers for almost 12 years. Over these years, it has remained the most entertaining, trendy, uplifting and spiritual gospel programme on the small screen.

Going to the Kruger is in line with our commitment to take the programme to the communities. In the past few months we have been to the Cape, Durban, Free Sate and now we are in Mpumalanga said the senior producer and presenter of the show, Tennysen Legethe.

At least four programmes will be recorded from the Kruger Mational Park. The natural environment is a perfect setting for a spiritual revival. We are hoping this will be the beginning of our new campaign Back to God, Back to Nature said Zanele Mbokazi, the PR Manager and presenter of Gospel Gold.

The crew will conclude their stay at the park with a star-studded gospel concert. The concert will take place on the 13th of February at the soccer stadium in Skukuza, which lies on the southern banks of the Sabie River. This camp is the Kruger National Parks largest rest camp and administrative headquarters. The day event concert will start at 11h00 and will include the performances of the ever popular Deborah, Incadweni, Izimbongi ZikaJehova, Sipho Makhabane and a number of local groups.

The Executive Director of the Kruger National Park, Dr Bandile Mkhize, said that Gospel Gold would be hosted in the Kruger National Park as a way to reach out to deeply spiritual communities.

I believe the Kruger National Park provides the perfect setting for those people who want to discover themselves and take their rightful place among all the natural wonders of Gods Creation. Although we welcome everyone to come and enjoy the serene setting that is the Kruger National Park, it must be remembered that this should be done in the context of biodiversity conservation. And thus all who visit the Kruger National Park for the purpose of attending the concert are urged to adhere to the rules and regulations as these play a vital role in conservation, Dr Mkhize said.

Those who miss the live concert can catch all of the excitement at the Kruger National Park, viewers can tune into SABC1 at 09h00 on Sundays with the repeats on Mondays at 10h00, during the month of March.
